  17. Utimaco SafeGuard« PrivateCrypto offers a user-friendly way to encrypt data.
  18. Integrated  in the Windows Explorer it allows to encrypt files by right clicking
  19. on them in the Windows Explorer and entering a password. Additionally, it is possible
  20. to compress the files.
  21.  
  22. To decrypt a file the user has to enter the password after double clicking on
  23. it. If a user, who should be able to decrypt the file, does not have
  24. Utimaco SafeGuard« PrivateCrypto installed, a self-extracting executable can
  25. be created. To decrypted such a file, it is not necessary to have the Utimaco
  26. SafeGuard« PrivateCrypto software installed. Only the password has to be known.

  28. Example:
  29. After agreeing on a password a user encrypts a file using Utimaco
  30. SafeGuard« PrivateCrypto directly in the windows Explorer. Then the file can be
  31. attached to an e-mail. The receiver can decrypt the file by just entering the
  32. password.

  34. Utimaco SafeGuard« PrivateCrypto is available for Windows 95/98/Me, Windows NT and
  35. Windows 2000. Utimaco SafeGuard« PrivateCrypto is available as freeware and can be
  36. downloaded form the Utimaco Safeware homepage (www.utimaco.com) for personal use.

  38. Encryption algorithm:
  39. Utimaco SafeGuard« PrivateCrypto uses the "Rijndael" algorithm which is defined as the
  40. new Advanced Encryption Standard (AES). The Utimaco implementation uses the
  41. "Rijndael" algorithm with a key length of 128 bit to encrypt data. The
  42. "Rijndael" algorithm is the successor of the DES algorithm and will replace it
  43. in the future.

  56. The selected language is only valid for the installation. The language of the
  57. program depends on the regional settings of your operating system.

  61. 4.1 More information on how to use Utimaco SafeGuard« PrivateCrypto can be found
  62.     in the online help.
  63. 4.2 This version of Utimaco SafeGuard« PrivateCrypto supports only encryption of
  64.     files up to 20 MB.
  65. 4.3 Multiple encryption of files is not prevented by this program.

  67.     the program.
